Supporters of the proposed code argued that it would establish clear standards for conduct and decision-making, thereby fostering public trust. However, opponents contended that existing regulations were sufficient and that additional policies might be redundant.
Despite the council’s rejection, discussions about implementing formal ethical guidelines may continue, especially if public concern over transparency and accountability persists.
